I hear the name CODOC referred to as a section in the Library, what is it?

I am looking for a conference or working paper, and they tell me to look in the CODOC section. What is it?

Answer

CODOC System

CODOC is the name of the system used to group material in the same location.

CODOC numbers group material on the shelf by issuing body (government department, branch, etc.) rather than by topic.

How does CODOC work?

Each element of the call number represents a specific aspect of the publication.

  • Country / Organisation
  • Level of Government or Company Subsidiary
  • Department
  • Branch
  • Year
  • Unique Title / Series Identifier
